You describe a process of working with the emotions which is also a Buddhist technique, called Befriending Your Demons. Lama Tsultrim Allione. It's as you describe, shape colour, etc, but then there's an embodiment and a dialogue, and a process of giving the demon/l (also could say 'emotion') what it needs, so it naturally transforms. Then...there's a dialogue with the transformed being, known as an Ally. Fascinating! Thanks so much. Greetings from Cambridge, UK.
And greetings back Colette. Thanks a bunch for the comment. The more I do the Emotions Diary, the more folks tell me about similar practices. It makes sense that Buddhists do this too. I actually learned a lot about inviting my demons in for tea from Thich Nhat Hahn and listening to his recordings.
Hi Karl, I didn't get to watch this live but I found it so helpful and lovely to watch. I will be upgrading so that I can see these in the future. LOVED the bit about seeing emotions and tried it as something made me really angry this morning and I was able to digest it, instead of being digested 🔥. I've spent years trying to find my path and just ended up in a thicket going round in circles, having spent thousands on courses, self help...not and as U2 said I still haven't found what I'm looking for. But your wisdom and kindness are so wonderful. I realise that a lot of what I need is connection with like minded people, and to simply accept myself, and enjoy life instead of constantly thinking, "there has to be more". Thank you 😊
You are so welcome Tracy, and I’m thrilled that it worked for you. It’s gotten me out of many an emotional logjam and tidal wave. Look forward to seeing you in there. I’m going to be doing them every week from June 18th. But there’s a could more free ones to come this Wednesday and on the 4th June. Cheers!
