Thanks, I found a lot of valuable ideas in this one, and so much I want to comment on.
Like how the division is so extreme that it feels less "us vs them" and more "every man for himself" and the role of social media in increasing this atomisation.
But what followed me around all week was this idea that even self sabotaging behaviour could offer some benefit I am not aware of. What am I getting out of this negative behaviour? I feel like gaining clarity on what that benefit is, could be a really powerful tool for understanding myself, and for behavioural change.
Also, your grandmother sounds like a legend! All the best!
Nice one Vaughn thanks for the note. I always love to hear what's resonating with folks. And yes, that self-sabotaging behaviour is a tricky one. It often serves to keep a story alive. That story might not be serving you. Or maybe it is, and you could find a positive way to support it. And my nana rocked! She was a woman ahead of her time - business owner and woman's rights activist in the 50s.
Yes, keeping a story alive. I guess it's like the old saying "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't." Experimenting with new ways of living can be risky, but so can clinging to the past. Maybe the proper place is somewhere in the middle. Hold onto what works, and try something new.
I am just finding you today-this is exactly the messaging I feel so strongly will take us where we need to go. So thank you and thank you for making it free from paywalls.
I am loving Substack and end up paying for subscriptions to those who provide for free and give me a chance to really appreciate the work first.
Thank you aurora, so glad you found Undividing. I also believe in letting people take their time with my writing. As a relatively unknown when I arrived here, it's important to have a POV, be consistent, offer quality, and earn trust. And if they are bale to and want to, to financially support then. I get people writing to me everyday about how they appreciate that it's free, as they can't pay for a bunch of totally legit reasons. And knowledge should be free to access. Cheers!
Thank you James! A few people have commented that I put too much good stuff in each newsletter. I'm going to try leaning and honing the main story down to make it more memorable. Thank you for subscribing!

Tough time to be a woman. I admire her courage!

I love the intention of your publication! I’ll be reading :-)
thank you Pinkie!
I hope I am not the only human to have read this long read to bottom. It is worth a subscription.
