Howard Thurman, 20th U.S. American theologian, said, "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." (It's my screensaver on my laptop.) So important to remember to think about what makes us feel great. Thank you for another meaningful Emotions Diary video!

Life feels like admin because you accidentally became the secretary of your own soul.

Start saying "no" like it’s a sacred mantra. That’s how the mystics deleted their inboxes.

Love this as I peer out from three weeks of admin frenzy! Little bit worried that if I curate with full intent, there won't be anything left - just me, a notebook, and a cup of tea! :-)

Make me one, black no milk! I’m having this new idea where I dedicate a morning a month to all the admin stuff. Then it’s done. And I don’t think about the inbox of IRL stuff for another month.

This great advice.

"Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers." Tony Robbins

We are on the same page here:

I just posted as a note something very similar.

Finding the questions in the quiet spaces.

We don't learn until we engage the ideas personally and actively.  Sometimes we need structure and some time to allow questions to bubble up.

Marinating ideas and values involves “soaking” them together in your mind, creating hidden connections.

Try this. Pick a personal goal. Imagine putting it in a bag as if it were meat you intend to marinate. Now pick 3 personal values (suggestions: Wisdom, Integrity, Generosity, Humility, Curiosity, Justice, Moderation, Compassion & Self-Compassion, Kindness) to add to the marinating bag with your goal.

Write down your goal and the 3 values on a piece of paper. Keep it with you until tomorrow morning, and then write down the questions and ideas that come to you after an evening of marinating.

If this is helpful, use the recipe with different goals and values. This is a way of generating fresh ideas and identifying blind spots.

I gave myself a simple acronym: ABP = Always Be Pruning.

I think of it like giving my hair a trim. Just take another half inch off. I don’t have to do something drastic. Completely change my style. Throw everything out and start over. No. Just a little here… little there… consistently. Next thing I know, things are a bit more manageable. I’m looking different. It suits me better. I feel lighter.

Works with “to-do” lists too.

ABP … just a little.

Love this! I am feeling so much of this after coming back from a 3 month halfish lap of Australia and trying to sit with what I choose to add back into life. I very much feel the heaviness of the time we spend managing ‘stuff’ and things, and expectations. I am looking at this time as a sense of renewal in choosing how I piece life back together, while trying to give myself grace during the melancholy (as you mentioned - very real!). Thank you once again for your vulnerability and showing us light.
